How to make a video select list for FLV Files

If you have a number of videos to show off and can be reasonably sure the video will remain close to the links then a select list is a good option. View the code of this page to see how it is done.  Be sure to look for the css and javascript in the head and the video reference files after the </body> tag.  Also, you need to change the play to "play=true" at two locations for each video reference line at the bottom of the code, just after </body>.

Making FLV files out of WMV files is easily done.  The first three videos below were converted using the free program available at www.dvdvideosoft.com.  Using the setting of "High bandwidth Cable/DSL (512 kb/s, 320 x240)", you get a FLV file that is similar in both viewing size and file size.  However, in my opinion the new FLV file has much poorer quality than the original high quality WMV file.  The last file below was converted using the Moyea Video to Flash Converter (trial version).  To purchase the standard package is $60.  The converted FLV file was converted at a high 800 kbps bit rate and is now about 6 Mb bigger than the original WMV file, but the quality is identical to the original WMV file (IMO).  If generating high quality cross browser videos to embed in your website is important, than the $60 may be well worth the cost.

While the Moyea program also generates different flash players, all the examples below use the simple and streamlined player generated by dvdvideosoft.com.  It is simple, but very effective.
